When a dog dies
A million stories die with it
An eyelid shuts
A light turns out
There is a thump less
A wink less
A heave less
A pant less
A lolling pink tongue less
One heartbeat less
A little space more
A lot love less
A space in your heart
A million stories die with it
An eyelid shuts
A light turns out
There is a thump less
A wink less
A heave less
A pant less
A lolling pink tongue less
One heartbeat less
A little space more
A lot love less
A space in your heart
Vacant like never before…
I agree!! Though never owned a dog, had lot of doggy friends!! And when they go, they do leave a void!!
ReplyDeleteMet two lovely New Finlands yesterday - Ruby & Walter and the children took to them like they were long lost buddies.......i remembered rex and missed him terribly.............the ache doesn't go away no matter whose dog it is......
ReplyDeleteO I so agree--I see all of Aunty's dogs in every stray un out there :) They always, always, have the same look that dear ol' Rex had in his beautiful brown eyes:) Sure he must be watching us all from the Happy Hunting Grounds (read: Doggy Heaven) :)
